Our policies

Our Code of Ethics and Conduct ((PDF 336.9 KB))  sets out how we work at the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment. The Code, along with other policies, are used by staff in the day-to-day operations of the department.

Many other policies are deemed suitable for public release and those policies are listed on the following:

Aboriginal Procurement Policy

The Aboriginal Participation Strategy (2019/2021) (PDF 2.4 MB)  provides direction on the expectations of the department in the implementation of the NSW Government Aboriginal Procurement Policy (APP).

The APP aims to shift the focus from the bottom line price or cost of goods and services towards the overall value of the outcomes delivered for Aboriginal-owned businesses. The purpose of this strategy is to commit the department to achieving the goals of the APP and how we plan to do it.

Through this strategy the department makes a commitment to work with Aboriginal-owned businesses to help grow the first economy of NSW.

Public Interest Disclosure Policy

The purpose of the Public Interest Disclosure Policy (PDF 347.7 KB)  is to establish an internal reporting system for staff to report wrongdoing without fear of reprisal. This policy sets out:

  • who can report wrongdoing in the Department
  • what should be reported and
  • how reports of wrongdoing will be dealt with.

External Service-Related Complaints Policy

Our External Service-Related Complaints Policy ((PDF 65.0 KB)) aims to:

  • set out the principles and commitments in complaints handling
  • ensure that complaints and feedback received are being managed in line with these principles and commitments.
