This development is one of about 50 projects being delivered under the NSW Government’s $400 million Fast-Track Housing Construction Package, to help boost economic recovery from COVID-19 in local communities throughout the state.
The site is located 1km north-west of the Peakhurst town centre and 1km from Riverwood train station. The site is bound by Trafalgar Street to the north, Lawrence Street to the east and Jacques Street to the west.
NSW Land and Housing Corporation (LAHC) is constructing a three-storey residential apartment building containing 15 social housing units to provide modern fit for purpose accommodation. Two adjoining cottages were previously located on the site.
The site and surrounding area is zoned for medium density use. The neighbourhood is currently being redeveloped from low density cottages into three-storey apartment buildings for both private and social housing.
The development will consist of a three-storey building with 15 social housing units, configured as three one-bedroom and 12 two-bedrooms units. 16 car parking spaces will be included.
The development will contribute to the revitalisation of the neighbourhood, by providing a modern building with architectural design features such as balconies, recessed entries and generous landscaping.
The development will be highly visible as it has three street frontages. Multiple entries will activate these frontages. It will also be completed with mature street tree planting to accentuate the streetscape.
