Project updates

NSW Land and Housing Corporation (LAHC) partnered with Mono Constructions to recently complete a three-storey,15-unit apartment building on Trafalgar Street, Peakhurst, comprising 12 two-bedroom and three one-bedroom units.

This development, in the Georges River local government area, has provided new, modern fit-for-purpose social housing to around 20 social housing residents, providing a significant uplift in social housing.

Located 1km north-west of the Peakhurst town centre and close to Riverwood train station, the development includes lift access, architectural design features such as balconies and recessed entries, generous landscaping, multiple entries, mature street tree planting to accentuate the streetscape and 1.5m wide footpaths along the three street frontages. Two apartments are adaptable for people with mobility restrictions, and all apartments have allocated car parking including two accessible parking spaces.

The site and surrounding area is zoned for medium density use. The neighbourhood is currently being redeveloped from low density cottages into three-storey apartment buildings for both private and social housing. This highly visible development will contribute to the revitalisation of the neighbourhood.

Trafalgar Street renewal is one of about 50 projects being delivered under the NSW Government’s $400 million Fast-Track Housing Construction Package, to help boost economic recovery from COVID-19 in local communities throughout the state.

In line with the NSW Government’s Future Directions for Social Housing plan, this project highlights the NSW Governments continued commitment to deliver well designed, fit-for purpose homes integrated within the community to create greater diversity and help strengthen support for social housing residents.

Around 26 jobs were created as part of this project.
