New housing for the Hunter
The NSW Government’s Communities Plus program is redeveloping the social housing portfolio across metropolitan Sydney and regional NSW through innovative partnerships with the private and not-for-profit sectors including community housing providers.
The NSW Land and Housing Corporation’s (LAHC) Glendale project, located in Lake Macquarie, has transformed a vacant site into 21 modern, fit for purpose apartments including 6 social housing and 3 affordable units. The development is well located near the regional Glendale shopping centre, local schools and the proposed future site of the Glendale Station.
By partnering with Pacific Link Housing, LAHC has been able to double the number of social housing dwellings that were previously existing on the site.
Pacific Link Housing is a leading Tier 1 community housing provider managing close to 1,100 properties across the Lake Macquarie, Central Coast, Newcastle and Hunter regions.
The Glendale project provides high quality and stable housing to social housing tenants and to those tenants eligible for the affordable housing scheme. Through its design, location and completion, this project has the possibility of providing many positive outcomes for residents.
By incorporating sustainability principles within the project, the average living cost, particularly for social housing tenants, will be reduced. Two ground floor units are also adaptable for tenants with disabilities.
