What is to be delivered?
The Aboriginal Housing Office (AHO) will deliver:
- 200 new homes
- 260 upgraded homes
- 4,440 upgrades to improve climate-resilience and energy efficiency
Who will benefit?
- Aboriginal communities – most of the work will be done in remote and regional locations across NSW
- Tenants in state and Aboriginal community owned properties
What are the key milestones?
- 2022–23: Planning and procurement in the first half of the year, followed by construction in the second half of the year
- 2023–24: Construction and delivery
- 2024–25: Program completion
What are the key benefits?
- Reduced homelessness and overcrowding through building 200 new homes
- Improved quality of life for tenants by rejuvenating 4,700 state and Aboriginal community owned properties
- Stable housing for women and their families, which will improve employment and education outcomes
- Economic opportunity through the creation of 658 construction-related jobs, generating 132 jobs for Aboriginal people across regional and remote NSW
