Programs

$18 million telemetry rebate program

The NSW and Australian Governments have each committed $9 million for this program to provide financial relief for water users and encourage voluntary uptake of telemetry.

Under this program eligible water users will receive a $975 rebate on their water bill when they connect to the NSW Government's telemetry system. The rebate will be backdated to include water users who have already connected to telemetry.

$14.61 million government-owned meter program

Under this program, funded by the NSW Government, WaterNSW will upgrade around 3,000 government-owned meters to ensure they meet the standards under NSW’s non-urban metering rules.

$1 million First Nations metering traineeship program

This program will provide opportunities for First Nations Australians to participate in the water industry and increase supply of skilled metering installers, as demand for these services increases. It is funded by the Australian Government.

$2.5 million field telemetry program

This program will showcase the benefits of metering and telemetry in the NSW northern Basin. It is funded by the Australian Government.

These programs commenced in 2021-22.

*These projects are delivered under the Murray–Darling Basin Plan by the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment and jointly funded through the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment and the NSW Government.
