Southern floodplain management plans
The NSW Department of Planning and Environment will soon begin work on replacing floodplain management plans for the Murray, Murrumbidgee and Lachlan valleys.
Under section 43 of the Water Management Act 2000 and within its fifth year, a formal plan review is completed by the department to identify the necessary alterations to deliver better outcomes for all floodplain users, including the environment.
The Southern floodplain management plans have been reviewed. The Section 43 review report (including all submissions) will be used in conjunction with the NRC audit findings to inform the possible replacement of these floodplain management plans.
