Smart Places Customer Charter and privacy
Everyone involved in deploying and managing smart solutions needs to actively manage networks and data to ensure they are safe and secure, and privacy is protected.
The NSW Government is committed to making sure safeguards are in place at all times covering the data being collected, how it is being used, who is able to access the data and how it is being protected.
In NSW, the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 is in place to help protect private information.
To complement this legislation, the Smart Places Strategy Action Plan commits the NSW Government to developing a Data Protection Policy and Smart Places Customer Charter to guide how data gathered by smart devices is collected, managed and stored.
The policy and charter are currently being developed.
