Flexible working is part of life at the department. Wherever you work within the broader group of agencies that makes up the department, there are flexible working options available to help you have a better work-life balance. We have offices across all NSW.

Connected Workplaces

Our Connected Workplaces are safe and secure, flexible, sustainable and inclusive workspaces that can be used by employees as their primary headquarters or on an ad-hoc basis. They enable all staff to move easily between different offices because they are agile, accessible, and ‘connected’ from a technology perspective, meaning you can just ‘plug and play’.

Parramatta

Our Parramatta workplace located at 4 Parramatta Square (4PSQ) has been built with accessibility and inclusion at front of mind. Features include:

  • Meeting rooms with hearing loops (one on each floor and multiple on meeting room floors 11 and 29).
  • Consistent layout from village to village (one floor plan for low rise and one for high rise).
  • Different coloured floor coverings to identify villages.
  • Meeting rooms logically numbered
  • An interactive map to identify floor locations.
  • Visually accessible signage: which includes braille, hearing augmentation, TGSI (tactile ground surface indicators), raised tactile lettering and pictograms.
  • Main entrance and path of travel is accessible to all employees, visitors and clients (clear path of travel, hearing loop at concierge, programmable lift access and accessible lobby seating).
  • Accessible amenities (toilets, furniture and equipment).
  • Sit-to-stand desks on each floor.
  • A reasonable workplace adjustments process has been developed and promoted.
  • Wellbeing and multi-faith rooms.
  • Parenting rooms.

CBD - Elizabeth Street

Our CBD workplace located at 231 Elizabeth offers an agile working environment, including bookable touchdown workspaces and meeting rooms. It's been built with accessibility and inclusion at front of mind.  Features include:

  • Main entrance and path of travel is accessible to all employees, visitors and clients (clear path of travel, hearing loop at concierge, programmable lift access and accessible lobby seating).
  • Meeting rooms and collaboration spaces with hearing loops (four on Level 1 and one on Level 4)
  • Meeting rooms logically numbered with room numbering in braille.
  • Visually accessible signage: which includes braille, hearing augmentation, TGSI (tactile ground surface indicators), raised tactile lettering and pictograms.
  • Accessible amenities (toilets, furniture and equipment).
  • Sit-to-stand desks on each floor.
  • Workstations with numbering in braille.
  • Wellbeing, multi-faith rooms and parenting rooms
  • A reasonable workplace adjustments process has been developed and promoted.

Orange

The NSW Government has invested in this exciting new regional hub in the centre of Orange. The new Ian Armstrong building in Orange is located at 105 Prince Street. The building is home to approximately 800 staff from across our cluster as well as colleagues from other departments.

  • Accessible parking is available onsite.
  • There are accessible ramps at the front of the building from street level and from the carpark.
  • There is an accessible ramp from the Level 1 car park to the rear entrance of site.
  • Building entrance doors are automatic opening.
  • Accessible amenities (toilets, furniture and equipment) on every level including a toilet/shower in the basement car park.
  • Visual accessible signage: which includes braille, hearing augmentation, TGSI (tactile ground surface indicators), raised tactile lettering and pictograms.
  • Hearing loops are provided in room both boardrooms on level 3, the two conference rooms on ground floor and adjoining break out event area.
  • There is also a hearing loop at the Concierge desk.
  • A Parents room, First Aid Room and Multi Faith room are provided on the Ground level.
  • Reasonable workplace adjustments process has been developed and promoted.
  • Sit/Stand (height adjustable) workstations are available on all floors.

Newcastle

The NSW Government has invested in this multi-tenancy eleven-story office accommodation tower - 'The Store'. Our new office is right next to the new Newcastle Interchange redevelopment. This purpose built site will serve as a central Connected Workplace Hub for the Department of Planning and Environment.

'The Store' is a state-of-the-art building with accessibility and inclusion front of mind which includes ‘Design for Dignity’ elements. It features:

  • Hearing loops (available in large meeting rooms)
  • Wayfinding, including meeting rooms logically named and numbered, accessible features in marketplace spaces and an interactive map to identify floor locations
  • Visual accessible signage which includes braille, hearing augmentation, raised tactile lettering and pictograms
  • Main entrance and path of travel is accessible to all employees, visitors and clients (clear path of travel, hearing loop at concierge, programmable lift access and accessible lobby seating)
  • Accessible amenities (toilets, furniture and equipment)
  • Sit-to-stand desks on each floor
  • Complete review of WHS staff requirements
  • Accessibility support during orientation
  • Multi-faith room
  • Parents’ rooms
