Is there an appetite for NSW gov to engage with local Indigenous owned companies to assist with scopes of work within projects? If so, what is the process to get engaged?
A. The NSW Government has a strong commitment to engage local Indigenous owned companies for construction works.
Companies can register through Supply Nation and also on the Buy NSW Supplier Hub, which we use to contact local indigenous owned companies and suppliers. In addition. companies that prequalify on a Whole of Government Scheme for procurement can be identified as an Indigenous owned company to be considered when identifying suppliers to participate in tender opportunities.
In terms of appetite to engage, this is also managed the use of Aboriginal Participation Plan for larger tenders where there are targets in place for tenderers to meet or exceed in their tender and managing work under a contract. DCCEEW Water Infrastructure Delivery follows the NSW Procurement Aboriginal Procurement Policy which includes requirements for engagement of indigenous owned companies in construction contracts.
