12 new social homes delivered in Wauchope

Hastings Street, Wauchope

Up to 20 people will have access to new, high-quality homes following the completion of a $3.7 million social housing development on the Mid North Coast.

NSW Land and Housing Corporation’s (LAHC) 12-unit development on Hastings Street in Wauchope will be a major boost for the region.

The modern, two-storey complex provides 8 one-bedroom and 4 two-bedroom units, with 2 units for people who require a wheelchair, as well as 8 parking spaces for residents.

The new homes are built on the site where a motor registry once stood, and are close to shops, transport and essential services.

Minister for Planning and Minister for Homes Anthony Roberts said the development will help to address the social housing waitlist in the region.

“In addition to these new homes, we’re further boosting social housing on the Mid North Coast with the delivery of another 16-unit development in Port Macquarie which is expected to be complete in February,” Mr Roberts said.

“This project was designed to integrate seamlessly with the local village character of Wauchope and we are delighted up to 20 more people will now have access to the security of a new home.”

Both housing complexes will be managed by community housing provider, Community Housing Limited (CHL).
