Parramatta Square Workplace Hub

6 Parramatta Square

About the project

The Parramatta Workplace Hub is the largest single government workplace in the southern hemisphere, bringing together around 10,000 public servants across multiple NSW Government departments and agencies.

Located at 4 and 6 Parramatta Square, the Parramatta Workplace Hub is a standout example of a future-focused workplace, providing a modern, flexible, sustainable working environment that caters to the needs of the government’s diverse workforce.

The two towers connect via a shared lobby and glass footbridge on level 11, which provides access to the Whole-of-Government touchdown space, a flexible working space available for all NSW Government employees to work on an ad hoc casual basis.

Outcomes delivered

  • Modern, sustainable, A-grade workplace supporting the hybrid working of our government employees to deliver for the people of NSW
  • A future-focused workplace fit-out, architecturally designed to create flexible, agile and dynamic workplace, supporting a hybrid work policy, with the ability to adapt to machinery of government changes
  • Supports the government’s sustainability targets, with both buildings achieving the highest sustainability credentials with 6-star Greenstar ratings and 5.5-star NABERs ratings
  • Consolidation of agencies to create efficiencies and reduce costs
  • Supported the government’s objectives for Parramatta to become the second Sydney CBD

The Parramatta Workplace Hub, delivered in partnership with Walker Corporation, helped realise the vision for Parramatta Square, revitalising this ideal location connected to Parramatta train station by bringing the people needed to create a thriving square that is now the civic heart of Parramatta.

The project supported several NSW Government policies at the time, including the now complete Decade of Decentralisation Policy, which called for 100,000 m2 of government workplace to be relocated from the Sydney CBD to Western Sydney and regional NSW by 2021.

The Parramatta Workplace Hub achieved this almost single-handedly through the establishment of this inter-connected campus at Parramatta Square. This ensures the economic benefits and job opportunities of the NSW public service are positioned within the heart of Sydney, arguably where it can have the greatest impact on equity and economic prosperity.
