Precinct Development

Herbert Street Precinct, St Leonards

About the project

The Herbert Street Precinct is a whole-of-government initiative that will activate underutilised land adjacent to the Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) in St Leonards.

Property and Development NSW (PDNSW), in partnership with NSW government agencies, is working to secure the vision for a thriving precinct that will deliver housing, improve open space and the public domain, while also maximising access to established services like transport, health, and education, to support a rapidly growing St Leonards population.

Royal North Shore Hospital Campus

NSW Health has undertaken planning work to secure RNSH’s clinical capacity, now and into the future.

NSW Health has also undertaken planning to consider the non-clinical uses required to support the consumers, workforce and visitors to RNSH Campus, including education and research facilities, green space, transport improvements, childcare and diverse and affordable accommodation for health workers.

The Herbert Street Precinct will support these clinical and non-clinical priorities of the RNSH Campus, including the provision of diverse and inclusive housing solutions for essential service workers.

Consultation

PDNSW is currently investigating a range of options that deliver on the needs of the community and NSW Government priorities.  PDNSW will undertake further stakeholder and community consultation once this work is completed.

The government is committed to working closely with all partners, stakeholders and the community as planning for the precinct progresses.
