The 10 social housing units on Landa Parade have been designed to be safe, comfortable and easy to access for older people, people with disability and those with a pram, meeting Liveable Housing Australia’s silver standard for accessibility.
The units are near public transport, local shops and community services, including the Calvary Mater Newcastle public hospital. A range of parks and reserves are also close by.
Each unit includes solar panels and low-flow taps, and the grounds contain drought-resistant native plants.
The project will support around 17 jobs during construction.
When completed, it will deliver 10 social housing units for the 2 it replaces.
The project is being funded under the NSW Government’s $400 million Fast-Track Construction Package.
