Location

The project site comprises around 10 hectares of vacant Crown land, with access off Farnell Street and Dawson Street, just 2.2 kilometres north of Forbes town centre.

The land was zoned for residential use by Forbes Shire Council in 2013. LAHC intends to subdivide the site to create around 100 new lots to deliver around 120 private, social and affordable homes in an inclusive community over the next 3-4 years.

Next steps

The process for detailed concept design and planning will take approximately 6-9 months.

After this time, the plans will be placed on public exhibition for feedback from the community. There will be a variety of ways to learn more and share your comments. We will outline a more detailed program of community engagement activities in the coming months.

Using Crown land to ease housing stress

Crown Lands oversees the state’s Crown land assets (some 34 million hectares or around 42% of NSW). Under our newly signed partnership, we will work together to identify priority areas where there is suitable Crown land for residential development.

Together, we’re working to provide homes for key workers, social housing residents, private purchasers and Aboriginal families.
