NSW Land and Housing Corporation (LAHC) partnered with Traders In Purple and community housing provider, Housing Trust, to deliver a mixed tenure development on Robert Street, Corrimal, comprising 34 residential dwellings.
The development includes 21 one and two-bedroom units as well as 13 two-storey townhouses. Of the 34 quality dwellings, seven are allocated for social housing with the remainder providing affordable housing.
Located within walking distance to local shops, schools, a playground and facilities, and close to Wollongong CBD, this contemporary development in the Wollongong local government area, seamlessly integrates into the community.
The Robert Street renewal project incorporates smart design elements featuring natural ventilation and ceiling fans in all bedrooms and living rooms helping to reduce electricity costs. All units are accessible for people with mobility restrictions and resident parking has been provided in a single level basement car park.
This new development provides modern housing designed to the highest standards to around 70 residents, with the new social housing units to be indistinguishable from other properties in the development and managed by Housing Trust.
In line with the NSW Government’s Future Directions for Social Housing plan, this project highlights the NSW Governments continued commitment to deliver well designed, fit-for purpose homes integrated within the community to create greater diversity and help strengthen support for social housing residents.
Around 55 jobs were created as part of this project.
